Ma'uka and Tutu Cedar

Hello Little Frog, The Seasons are changing. Seasons is a very fun word to get to know. Over here, where your Two Tutus are living, Seasons mean the plants, the wind, the rain, the temperature (the air around you) changes a lot. Over there, where your Mom and Dad and you live, the changes are different in the way they change. You'll get to know them. You will kilo (notice, and pay attention). Your Two Tutus live at Camp Bamboo, ma'uka upland. The Tall Trees grow all around us. Here are some little videos of one of my favorite trails, and favorite trees. The trees are called Cedar, and they have a very sparkly smell. The skin of the Cedar is what makes them smell so sparkly.  The kama'aina, the long-time human people of this place, the Coast Salish People, love Cedar very very much. They call her Tutu. Tutu = Grandmother because Cedar gives them so many many things they need to have a good life. It's fun to share Tutu Cedar with you and your Mom and Dad. Cedar shares so

Loving the bamboo out of you (Little Frog Version:)

Hello Little Frog, It won't be long now. Soon you'll be riding the waves from your personal ocean and what a world you'll see. Your Two Tutus are doing things tutus do. That's Tutu Pete on a big tall ladder. And this one below is me, stitching button holes and buttons to hold a winter vest around Tutu Pete's long, thin body, to keep him warm! The sun is getting ready to set at Camp Bamboo, just want to let you know we're loving the bamboo out of you!!!   💙💚💛 Your Two Tutus

Frog and Dog and New Moon Wishes

Hello Little Frog. Camp Bamboo is getting very wet. It rains a lot here sometimes, and those times have started. There are always frogs here, and now we are seeing them a lot. Frogs like water, but then you know that. Here's one on the pole that holds the hose we use to fill our water buckets. They are a very deep green color, and if you look very closely you can see they have long feet. The bottom of their feet are very sticky. They can climb without falling. It's not easy to spot those special sticky bits, and you can't see until they leap how strong their legs are. Wow, can they jump! There are many frogs at Camp Bamboo, but only one dog. Her name is Eclipse. She visits almost everyday. This is her sniffing for something to eat. You have a dog the same colors as Eclipse don't you? Soon you'll get to see your one dog. The Moon is New tomorrow, it's a good moon to make wishes. Tutu Pete and I talked with our friend Jude today, and I wished for a good fat chick

A little frog came visiting at the perfect time

Aloha Little Frog, Last night your Two Tutus called your Dad on our very old fliptop cellphone. That's a picture of the old cellphone. You might never see one of them, except in stories someone might tell you. Those old cellphones aren't very popular now days, but, some times things that aren't very popular can be just enough.  My Ma, your great-tutu, taught me about using something VERY SMALL (like that small cellphone) to be just good enough.  My Ma, your great-tutu, taught me about using things like safety pins, and clothes pins to hold things together. Safety pins and clothes pins are not super strong, but they can do some little magic ... like hold your pants up when they keep falling down because the button went flying. Or, sometimes you need to dry your shorts after you go swimming. A clothes pin is really handy for hanging your shorts up till they're dry. Then you put them back on after they're dry, and go swimming again. Funny ha. Anyway, this little stor

Seeing one thing, and remembering another

Hello Little Frog, This is a video that made me smile from the first moment I heard the music and saw the puppet and his puppeteer.  Your Dad plays the guitar, and your Mom plays the ipu and maybe other instruments, too. I don't really know, but you'll find out. This video reminds me so much of a friend your Dad and your Tutu Lady knew a long time ago, when your Dad was a boy. His name was Raymond North. Maybe sometime your Dad will have a story to share about Raymond North who had a gravelly voice like the man playing the guitar in this video.  Raymond North was a Welshman, these men are Irishmen. Wales is near Ireland. Listen closely to the song at the end of the video. It's Irish. Your Tutu Pete is an Irishman. It's fun to see how one thing you see can make you think of another thing, or another person. Life is magic that way, if you look for it or listen just so. 💙💚💚

Here and There

Good morning Little Frog. Your Two Tutus got this picture the other day. It's you (growing and backstrokin') and your Mom. What we love seeing is what your Mom and Dad do over there. "Over there" to us means it's not here where we are. Pictures can tell stories without using words. We look  at your Mom's opu growing with you inside at the small mountains of something with black speckles in baking pans at a bag of something orange  Then, there's a big fat green fruit with a small piko ... I know that's an ulu. I love ulu. There's a notebook with drawings. I think, "Your dad's been sketching something." That makes me smile to think of my son drawing. And, the drawing looks a lot like the shape of our vardo when Tutu Pete was building it.  Look at what your Dad is building in your backyard. Look at what Tutu Pete built over here, a long time ago (2008) Here and There are places you'll get to know as you grow and see this World. It&#

Counting the magic

Today is a beautiful day. Last night was a beautiful night. The moon was full in the sky almost all the night through. Inside our vardo, that's what our wagon home is called by the Romani. "Vardo" in their language means 'rose' ... I like thinking of our wagon as a rose on two wheels.  Today the air is clean, and breathing in feels sweet. My nose and my lungs say, "ah, love it!" I went to visit the four goats today. They love to eat. They eat almost anything. Banana peels are one of their favorites, but we have to remember to peel of the sticky labels on the peel. Goats cannot digest labels, it will make them feel bad. So we remember to take the peels off after we eat the fruit. Here is a little video of my first feeding of our food scraps to the four goats. I count this as magic. Everyday there's magic, if you look at it that way. The goat's names are: Quartz, Princess Lea, Cookie and Queen Anne.

Setting up camp

Hello Little Frog! Your Two Tutus have a new camp, and a new home. We left the bunnies, rabbits and hares to be with new friends. The new friends are three human people, making five people included us, four goats, two black hens, one cat, and a dog. This story is about all of us, and the place at the top of long steep road. We call our new place Camp Bamboo.
